Department of Corrections Hosts Job Fair – April 13

The Gwinnett County Department of Corrections will hold its 2019 Job Fair Saturday, April 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 750 Hi Hope Road in Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett County Corrections is currently hiring for Correctional Officer and Correctional Officer Senior positions.

There are multiple phases in the hiring process, and this event will expedite the process by giving candidates the opportunity to complete phase one. The job fair will include a facility tour, background processing, a behavior personal assessment device and interview boards.

Attendees are encouraged to apply online for the Correctional Officer position listed on www.GwinnettCountyJobs.com before April 11 to fully participate. Additional instructions will be emailed to candidates following completion of the application.

Gwinnett offers benefits, paid training, educational incentives, tuition reimbursement and career advancement.

The event will be held at the Comprehensive Correctional Complex, which is a secure facility. Personal items including cell phones may not be brought into the facility.

Unity Atlanta Invites Community to Interfaith Sunday

Unity Atlanta invites the community to Interfaith Sunday on June 30 during the 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. services to hear guest speaker Carl McColman discuss The Fullness of Joy is to Behold God in All.  

McColman, a contemplative writer and spiritual teacher based in Clarkston, Georgia, will share how every heartbeat is a miracle and every heartbeat is a prayer – because every heart is sacred; a portal to the Divine within.

He writes a blog for Patheos and is the co-host of the “Encountering Silence” podcast. McColman’s books include The Big Book of Christian MysticismBefriending SilenceAnswering the Contemplative Call and Invitation to Celtic Wisdom

Unity Atlanta embraces diversity of all forms, including spiritual traditions. To celebrate the multiple paths to God, the church invites interfaith speakers to share the pulpit with Senior Pastor Rev. Jennifer L. Sacks on the fifth Sunday of the month.

Family Field Day

Grab your family and friends and enjoy a day of fun in the sun at Family Field DaySaturdayJune 15th on the Town Green. Admission to this event is FREE and includes a DJ spinning fun tunes and classic field day games like tug of war and sack races. Field Day participants can also take part in inflatable ax throwing, big foot races and more!

Parking is available within the Town Center – 5200 Town Center Blvd.

Additional parking is available off Davinci Court off Peachtree Corners Circle (3720 Davinci Ct, 3715 Davinci Ct or 2745 Davinci Ct). You’ll cross Peachtree Corners Circle and access the Town Green via a path – look for the signs!

Live on the Green with Emily Hackett

The Live on the Green series hosts free monthly concerts in the Town Center through October. The summer performances kick off with Emily Hackett on Saturday, June 22.

Hackett, who was raised in Atlanta but has since moved to Nashville to launch her music career, has gained recognition as a country artist through her bold and honest songwriting. In fact, she was recently named one of the 10 “need to know” up-and-coming country artists by Rolling Stone Magazine.

Her unique, fresh take on country music has cemented her place in the new wave of the genre and allowed her to tour with renowned artists like Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts and Luke Bryan.

The show will start at 7 p.m., and Farm Burger will be serving up classics like their original Farm Burger and the popular Chicken Burger, along with local craft beer off the back patio. Parking will be available within the Town Center and off Davinci Court off Peachtree Corners Circle.

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and get ready for a night of great music, food and family fun.
